CatScapes in Pacific Palisades!

In August, 2020, we had the opportunity to design a catscape using two kits. The objective was to utilize the full wall, integrating the catscape with the built-in book shelves and the couch underneath.

Because the clients have two stunning black cats who love to chase each other, it was important that there be multiple paths and escape routes from any given point on the catscape.

This is the first catscape of which we are aware that utilizes CatScapes' unique patent-pending hinge-brackets to make a quadruple bracket, which not only allows for additional design possibilities and complex running patterns, it enhances the structural stability of the configuration.

The canvas.

Rationale, showing the flow. Note that the red wedge is intended to echo the green wedge, to create visual continuity from the vantage point shown.

CatScapes on location!

Impending happiness!

Measuring-out painters tape to the lengths of the shelves in the available quantity in order to play with design ideas and ultimately map-out the catscape.

The real fun begins!

The penultimate design. For the final version, we opted to "relax" the long, lower branch of the configuration by softening the angle emanating from the quadruple-bracket hub, and the customers chose to tilt the right-most shelf down instead of up in order to facilitate a second access point to the back of the couch.

Most customers create simple, functional configurations or base their designs on the small sampling of options shown on the Design Ideas page, but with CatScapes Cat Shelves, the possibilities for creative and artistic expression are truly infinite.

With a master's degree in Music Composition from the Eastman School of Music and several years of experience creating catscapes using CatScapes Cat Shelves as well as other products, CatScapes founder and co-inventor, Aaron Feldman, is available to help review your ideas and to design a catscape for you.
